In 2009, only 78.6 percent of pupils studying in the 11th form received school leaving certificate in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers' report that was submitted to the parliament says that about 96, 646 pupils studying in the 11th form schools attended the centralized examinations in 2009, of which 78, 321 graduates successfully passed the exams and received a school leaving certificate.

Based on the report, the final exams were held in a centralized way in all secondary schools, regardless of the point system, applied under the "Evaluation concept in the general education system of Azerbaijan".

Final examinations from native language and mathematics for ninth forms of secondary schools will be held in the centralized way, starting from 2011.

About 1.42 million pupils study in the 4,552 comprehensive school of Azerbaijan and 7,500 - in 17 private schools.
