The Azerbaijani Gabala Football Club and British Airways held a contest recently for football fans. Participants were asked to name the top five similarities and dissimilarities between British and Azerbaijani football. Today winners received their prizes.
"We need to make every possible effort to develop football as a business," Gabala Marketing Manager Samad Nasibov said at the awards ceremony. "Although our contest is a minor step in this direction, it is still an important step."
Nasibov also spoke about the club's plans.
"The club will begin building a new stadium seating 15,000-16,000 in January," he said. "Construction will take 18 months and then be put into operation. We also plan to expand our fan club."
