Young people in Azerbaijani prosecution bodies make up a half of employees, Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov said in an article published in the newspaper Azerbaijan today on the eve of the day of prosecutors.

He added that young lawyers conducted 10 contests from 2002 up to now and 499 people were admitted to the prosecution bodies to staff the vacancies in the prosecution bodies on the basis of democratic and transparent procedures.

As a result, the number of the prosecution body employees of the new generation has increased by 16 times and hit about 50 percent of the total number.

He added that after the eleventh contest, to be held in 2012, completes, this ratio will be more changed. Most of the prosecutors will be newly-admitted people.

Garalov said that some 200 people serving at the positions of higher classification are the individuals admitted to the prosecution bodies as a result of the previous contests. Around 85 people were appointed to the Prosecutor General's Office, six people - to senior positions.

"As a result of effective human resource activity in 2011, five positively assessed people were appointed to the position of independent regional and city prosecutors in the first half of this year, 13 of them were appointed to this position for the first time," he said. "Around 169 prosecutors were promoted to the positions of higher classification in 2011, 153 employees were awarded for excellence in service. During the first half of this year, around 78 people were awarded, 42 employees were promoted in their positions."
