In the Park named after S.Khasiyev, situated in Narimanov district of Baku citywas held the festival dedicated to the World Day of Physical Activity and associated this event the campaigne under the slogan "Be active, be healthy and be the winner throughout life" was launched. The meeting was held in cooperation with The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education, The Executive Power of Narimanov District, The Public Health and Reforms Center of Ministry of Health (PHRC), Youth and Sports Department of Narimanov District, "Youth Development" Public Union and the Coca-Cola Foundation.

The aim of the holding of the festival was propoganda physical activity and healthy lifestyle among population and especially schoolchildren within State Program on "Azerbaijani youth in 2011-2015". Thus in many countries, including Azerbaijan, people have more sedentary lifestyle and as a result this affects the development of non-communicable diseases and generally the health of world`s population.

The event was opened by Aynur Rashidova, the head of Department Health Communication and Public Relations of PHRC. In her speech, she noted that the physical inactivity is considered one of the most important risk factors of death in the world. According to her words regular physical activity is important in prevention of chronic diseases such as, cardio-vascular diseases, diabetes type 2, a number of cancer diseases, obesity, depression and osteoporosis. A. Rashidova: "Every day at least 60 minutes of being physically active, you will have great success in your life!". "Just 60 minutes!" she mentioned at the end of her speech.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, physical activity should become a significant factor in the lives of young people. Then, the representative of the Ministry of Education spoke about the importance of periodically implementation of the events like this.

The chairwoman of the Youth Development Public Union Nazrin Babazade in her speech noted that the promotion of the healthy lifestyle among young people is one of the main priorities of the organization and young people always have been mobilized to such activities.

At the two-hours-long festival was held a number of competitions on physical activity with the participation of school children. In the competitions with high school students as well as actively participated children with disabilities. At the end the winner team was awarded with the prizes.

It should be taken into account that under the "Be active, be healthy, be the winner throughout of the life" campaign are planned to hold awareness raising trainings among schoolchildren in several high schools. During the campaign, the target audience will get recommendations on importance of physical activity for health, on healthy nutrition and knowledge about regularly, planned and systematic approach to physical activityAlso during the campaign will be distributed booklets, calendars, notebooks and posters on the topic prepared within the campaign.
