Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Bilal Haye has made a presentation on Pakistani-Azerbaijani relations at the campus of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS).

Before the presentation, the ambassador met with BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov. They discussed current and future opportunities for cooperation, as well as the issue of attracting more Pakistani students to the university.

Expressing satisfaction with the ambassador's visit to the Higher School, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov said that it is gratifying that such a presentation is being held at Baku Higher Oil School for the first time among Azerbaijani universities. Stressing that Pakistan and Azerbaijan are fraternal countries, the rector recalled that Pakistan was one of the first to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan, and that this country has always stood by Azerbaijan in difficult times for our republic. The rector also noted that Pakistani students study at Baku Higher Oil School, two of whom receive scholarships from the university.

“We are interested in educating Pakistani students at our university. Pakistani students studying here are exempt from dormitory fees. Two Pakistani students receive university scholarships. We propose to double the number of scholarship students,” Elmar Gasimov added.

Thanking the university leadership for the conditions created for students at BHOS, the ambassador said that the embassy would do everything possible to ensure that educated students study here. Then, telling the students about Pakistan, its economy, tourism potential and cultural heritage, the ambassador also touched on the country's relations with Azerbaijan.

“There are fraternal relations between our countries and we cooperate in many areas. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. We are two brotherly countries and we always support each other. Pakistan has been supporting Azerbaijan in its just struggle since the first day. The fact that many Pakistani students study in Azerbaijan is clear evidence that Azerbaijanis and Pakistanis are fraternal peoples. Baku Higher Oil School is one of the universities where Pakistani youth wants to study, and we are satisfied with the education process at this university and the conditions created here.”

At the end of the event, the ambassador answered students’ questions.
