Azeri Omb's Institute, R.Valenberg Swedish Human Rights & Humanitarian Law Institute implements a project in human rights

The Azerbaijani Ombudsmans Institute and the R.Vallenberg Swedish Human Rights and Humanitarian Law Institute implements a project in the human rights under the agreement undersigned between the sides. Australian Bill Chapman, the international expert of the Swedish institute, also well-known specialist in the human rights, holds three-week training-workshop for employees of the Azerbaijani Ombudsmans Institute to continue consultations within the second stage of the project in Baku under the financial support of SIDA, Trend reports.

Elmira Suleymanova, the Azerbaijani Ombudsman, welcomed the guest and congratulating him on the Day of Australia wished the Australian people in person of him peace and well-being. She noted that the Azerbaijnai President had sent a congratulatory letter to the Swedish Primer to express confidence in further development of the relationship between the both countries in the direction of friendship and cooperation.

The Ombudsman said that as a result of the Armenian aggression the country and the Azerbaijani people suffered incalculable material and spiritual losses, 20% of our lands was occupied, one million of Azerbaijanis .i.e. every 8th person in the country became refugee or internally displaces person. She also gave overhaul information about the 20 January tragedy. Chapman listened to the information and voiced his condolences on the events.

The international expert thanked Suleymanova for warm words in regard to his country and nation. Chapman added that he liked Azerbaijan, where he was several times, particularly, the hospitality and the sincerity of its people. He highly appreciated democratization and legal reforms taken place in the country, and mentioned the important steps taking in the ensuring of human rights and freedoms.

The guest also appreciated the activities of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman in the direction of defense and implementation of human rights, as well as mutual cooperation with civil society and international organizations. He also underlined dynamic process taking place at the institute.

Suleymanova handed over the presents to the guest and repeatedly congratulated him on the national holiday. The international expert also received the books, dedicated to Nagorno-Karabakh.
