Azerbaijani Health Ministry Keeps Ban on Famous Beaches in Caspian Sea
Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 July / corr. Trend S.Babayeva / The Azerbaijani Health Ministry's sanitary and epidemiological service kept in power a ban on the popular use of Shikhov, Mardakan, Shuvelan and Sahil beaches, which was imposed in 2007, the Ministry said.
"This decision was taken as a result of laboratory conclusions, which revealed that the sources of intensive pollution of beach water were not liquidated and indicators of bacteriological pollution are higher than admitted norm," the Health Ministry said.
The Republican Hygiene and Epidemiology Centre appealed to the Baku City Administration and Chief Police Department to ensure the execution of decisions and the Emergency Situation Ministry was also informed of that.
The Centre will control over hygiene state of all beaches within beach season.
