Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 November / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / "The Azerbaijani Ministry of Finances does not see any necessity to make up long-term public budget," Samir Sharifov, the Finance Minister said at a joint meeting of the parliamentary commission on discussion of the public budget draft for 2009.

"At present we are developing forecasts of the consolidated budget for next three years, the Minister said. We can regulate all issues within the framework of the annual budget and reconsider it in case of necessity."

Speaking about inefficiency of long-term budget, Sharifov cited Russia as an example. Russia uses three-year budget, which has been reconsidered twice.

The Minister also does not see necessity to unify the public budget with budget of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan Republic (SOFAR), because the latter fulfills a role of stabilizer of the public budget.

"International organizations recognized transparency of the SOFAR and Azerbaijan is the seventh country, joining Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative," the Minister said.
