WB reduces Ukraine’s 2008 GDP growth forecast to 2.3%

Ukraine, Kiev, Dec. 23 / Trend , Z. Novsvitskiy / "The World Bank (WB) reduced Ukraine's 2008 GDP growth forecast from 6% to 2.3% and increased inflation forecast from 21.5% to 22.8%," Ruslan Piontkovskiy, a WB economist, said at a news conference on Dec. 23.

Ukraine's 2009 GDP growth forecast was reduced from 4.5% to 4%.

At the same time, WB reduced the 2009 inflation forecast for Ukraine from 15.3% to 13.6%.

According to WB, Ukraine's nominal GDP will make up 954.7bln hryvnias in 2008 and 1.062trl hryvnias in 2009, [$1=7.87 hryvnias].
