In January - May 2009 the amount of industrial production in Azerbaijan composed 7.4 billion manat, which is 1.3 percent more than the same period of 2008, State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported.
The amount of production in the extractive industry increased 2.7 percent and was 5.21 billion manat (70.2 percent of the gross industrial production), but the growth rate in the processing industry declined 7.5 percent and was 1.65 billion manat (22.3 percent), and in power engineering, gas and water sectors - 552.6 million manat, an increase of 0.4 percent (7.5 percent).
The growth in the oil production was 2.3 percent, in gas production - 2.4 percent, but 20.8 percent reduction was recorded in oil refining.
The specific weight of the industrial production and services in the private sector made up 76 percent (5.63 billion manat). Growth in the private sector was 3.1 percent, but 4 percent reduction was recorded in the public sector.
On June 16, the official exchange rate is 0.8039 manat to $1.
