Uzbekistan includes Indonesia in list of favorable countries

Uzbekistan included Indonesia in a list of countries with which it has signed trade and economic cooperation agreements on a most-favored-nation basis by the Uzbek Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Ministry, Financial Ministry and State Customs Committe.

The document will come into force Dec. 4.

A trade agreement between the countries was signed in Tashkent in May 2008.

The agreement enacted into law Sep. 30.

Uzbekistan has signed agreements on trade and economic cooperation on the same basis with 45 countries, the MFERIT said.

According to the Indonesian Trade Ministry, turnover between the two countries was $13.7 million in 2008, including $3.8 million in exports to Uzbekistan and $9.9 million in imports from Uzbekistan. Indonesian exports to Uzbekistan include textiles products, teas, perfumes, palm oil, chocolate, industrial and electronic appliances, tires, tobacco and drugs.
