The Baku - Khania flight (Crete) will be realized from July 3, Greek ambassador to Azerbaijan Ioannis Metaksas said today.

"This project will be realized with support of the Greek Government and Embassy of Greece to Azerbaijan. Within the project for the first time it will be possible to receive visa without appealing to embassy. This is display of mutual respect and trust between the sides," Metaksas noted.

The flight will be realized Saturdays every week. Visas will be issued without visiting Embassy through tourism company. It will be enough only to submit international passport, Silk Way Travel Company head Shirzad Efendiyev said.

According to Metaksas, if the pilot project is successful in 2010, then next year it will be realized on better terms. Its implementation will promote not only tourism, but also will open new opportunities for business.

Efendiyev said cost of weekly package with accommodation in three star hotel will be about 700 euros, in the four-star hotel - 1000, in a five-star hotel - 1100 euros.

"It is a bit more expensive than in Turkey, but given the fact that it is the Schengen zone, the  prices are worth it. Besides, the tourists will be able to familiarize with the places of interest," Efendiyev said.
