Azerbaijani Railways plans to transport roughly 30 million tons of various cargo by late 2010, Azerbaijani Railways Chief Engineer Gurban Nazirov said July 22.
He added that the railway has transported 18 percent more goods this year than during the same period in 2009. The increase is mainly due to increased loads of oil products and dry cargo, he said.
Some 80 percent of the goods transported in the first two quarters of 2010 were shipped within the TRACECA transport corridor. Twelve-percent growth was observed in the zone.
