Baku branch of Bank Melli Iran will start issuing new types of local plastic cards, deputy director of the branch Anar Ibrahimov said.
"From next year, the bank intends to differentiate the types of emitted plastic cards and start to issue Gold and Standard cards," Ibrahimov said.
According to him, the bank already issues credit, debit and payroll cards. So far date, the bank has issued about 500 local cards.
"Today there is demand for the bank's credit cards, and increasing their range, we will simplify and extend the possibilities of using them for our customers," he said.
The bank's plastic cards are granted to the bank employees, employees of government offices and Iran's institutions in Azerbaijan, commercial, and all interested persons.
Bank Melli Iran has also begun to install its ATMs and POS-terminals in Azerbaijan.
The bank is a branch of Bank Melli Iran. Its activity is limited. Therefore, Bank Melli Iran will not be able to provide customers with plastic cards that support the international payment systems MasterCard and Visa [in connection with the U.S. government's sanctions against Iran].
