Georgia is discussing the possibility of attracting Chinese investment in the establishment of a regional wholesale market, the Georgian Prime Minister's press service reported.

This issue was discussed during Prime Minister Nika Gilauri's visit to China.

During the meeting with Chinese Vice Prime Minister Zhang Dejiang, Gilauri discussed the establishment of the wholesale market, which will supply Chinese goods to the entire region.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the China-Georgia friendship relations and the concurrence of the two countries' views on many issues of the international diplomacy.

The meeting noted that the economic relations between the two countries are developing successfully, although the potential for growth is still quite large.

Gilauri invited the Chinese side to contribute to the establishment of direct flights between the two countries, which will lead to the development of tourism between the two countries.

China did not exclude the use of the Tbilisi International Airport as a transit point for flights from China to Europe. The meeting also discussed issues of cooperation in the energy sector.

During his visit, Gilauri also met with representatives of the companies such as China International Water & Electric Corporation, Free Trade Zone of Quingdao, Sino Hydro Corporation, China Railway Construction and Gezhouba Group.

The meetings mulled the issues related to the construction of hydropower plants in Georgia, implementation of various infrastructure projects and increased use of Georgia's transit potential.

Gilauri is also expected to meet with the head of the Chinese Development Bank, the Trade and Transportation Minister and participate in a business forum to be held in Beijing.
