Toyota Motor Corp said Thursday the carmaker was recalling more than 135,000 vehicles in Europe and Japan over defects in the steering system.

Toyota said it recalled 71,000 units of the iQ model in Europe and 24,156 in Japan. The automaker also is recalling 40,464 PASSOs in Japan. The latter model is sold only in Japan, a Toyota spokeswoman said, DPA reported.

The world's largest automaker said it found some defects in the computer program that controls power steering.

The spokeswoman said there were no reports of injuries related to the defect. While 37 cases of the defect were reported in Japan, none were reported in Europe.

The recall is the latest in a series for Toyota, which damaged its reputation for quality. Earlier this year, the company recalled 8 million cars worldwide because of problems with sticking accelerator pedals and sliding floor mats.
