Tbilisi to discuss ways to reduce poverty in S.Caucasus

Tbilisi will host the "Sustainable Land Management for Mitigating Land Degradation and Reducing Poverty in the South Caucasus Region" conference on Nov. 18-19, the Regional Environmental Center for the Caucasus reported.

The conference aims to gather participant countries, experts and mass media representatives who will share their achievements and developments and discuss ecological trends.

The conference calls for aiding the ecosystem, reducing poverty, ensuring food security and improving the incomes of rural farmers in the South Caucasus by combating desertification, strengthening the natural resource base and revitalizing the agricultural sector.

The conference will be held at the Metropolitan Hotel Sheraton Metechi Palace.

The conference will be attended by representatives of ministries, legislative branches and structures dealing with land management, as well as international and donor organizations, NGOs, academic circles, businesses, local communities and other stakeholders from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.

The Regional Environmental Center is organizing the event.
