French Secretary of State for Transport Thierry Mariani will discuss bilateral cooperation in Baku this week.
Mariani will visit Baku on Feb. 10-12 to discuss bilateral cooperation in transport, Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Elchin Amirbeyov told Trend on Tuesday.
Several French transport companies have shown an interest in projects announced by the Azerbaijani side to improve railways.
Earlier, operations were completed on the development of a 20-year state program to develop the metro. A tender was held to develop a feasibility study, which resulted in the creation of an international consortium with the participation of the highly experienced French company SYSTRA, the British Mott MacDonald and the South Korean Saman.
Azerbaijan has also approved a state program for railway development for 2010-2014.
The main goals of the program are the continuation of reforms and the improvement of the regulatory framework for creating opportunities for commercial railway activities.
