Azerbaijan, Baku, April 29 / Trend A. Akhundov /

The Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry received five different complaints from travel companies in 2010, Rahman Orujlu, a ministry official, said in an interview with the Emlak Bazarı journal, issued by the Property Market Participants organization.

He said some were resolved after the ministry's interference. The rest were sent to judicial bodies.
"Tourism is an area completely open for entrepreneurs," he said. "As an organization involved in the public policy, our main aim is to give the green light for those working in this field. However, this does not mean that entrepreneurs must abuse it."

He said the fact that people working in this field directly communicate with guests who arrived from abroad can influence the image of the country, which demands strict monitoring.

At present, there are 214 licensed travel companies in Azerbaijan.
