The employees of the Constitutional Security Department under the Georgian Interior Ministry have revealed an incident of fraud of an official authority by public officials.
Deputy head of the department Soso Topuridze said at the briefing today that the
chief of the Georgian Railway Tbilisi Region Department Giorgi Rtveladze conducted repair operations in cahoots with various private companies and used the facilities of the Georgian Railway material resources and workers free of charge.
He was detained during the illegal transactions where he had received 6,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.66 lari) from a businessman and carried out the operations at the expense of the Georgian Railway. According to the preliminary information, the railway lost 210,000 lari as a result of Mr Rtveladze's actions. Emplotees Giorgi Tushishvili and Papuna Lomtatidze were also detained.
Railway employee Albert Tkebuchava and former employee Valerian Andriadze, who were systematically stealing Georgian Railway property, were also detained. The criminals will face sentences of 10 years each.
