Turkmenistan to hold talks on laying international fiber-optic communication lines

Turkmenistan's Ministry of Communications plans to hold negotiations with communication operators of the neighboring countries to lay international system of fiber-optic communication lines and to begin building work, a Turkmen official source reported on Monday.

The talks will be held on Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's instructions.

At a governmental meeting Berdimuhamedov drew attention to "the necessity of further updating and broad introduction of the latest technology in the work of these sectors."

According to Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan pays great attention to complex development and updating of telecommunications sphere.

"Today all conditions are created in our country for internet and up-to-date communication technologies become available for every citizen," he said. "Large importance is paid for intensive development of telecommunications."

Berdimuhamedov entrusted relevant managers to hold essential work.

The State company Turkmentelekom, operating under the Communications Ministry, studies the proposals of Cisco, Alcatel, Juniper and other companies to introduce TV of high quality and broad access to internet.

This technology ensures persistent connection to internet and so-called "two-sided" bond, that is, the possibility how to get and transmit information at high speed internet.
