Some 38.600 people were officially registered as unemployed in Azerbaijan for February 1, 42.9 per cent of whom are women, the State Committee on Statistics said on Monday. At present there are three unemployed claims for one job vacancy in Azerbaijan.
The country's employed population amounted to 4.627.600 for the reporting period. There were 1.363.200 employed, 852,000 of whom are working in the public sector and 511.200 in the private sector in 2011.
Some 21 per cent of employees are working in manufacturing sectors, 2.6 per cent of which are in mining, 5.8 per cent the processing industry, 5.9 per cent construction, 2.9 per cent in agriculture, forestry and fish farming.
Some 25.1 per cent of employees in the service sector are working in education, 19.8 per cent in trade, repair of motor vehicles, household goods and personal items, 9.9 per cent in health and social services, 4.7 per cent transportation and warehousing 1.8 per cent in the communications sector, 0.7 per cent - real estate transactions, 1.6 per cent in the financial and insurance business and 1.1 per cent in other areas.
The average amount of unemployment benefits is 207.1 manat.
