The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) will build a new transit corridor with the participation of Indian investors if final agreement is reached, Mehr news agency reports.

The new 1310 kilometer corridor will stretch from Iran's southeastern Chabahar to Zahedan and from Zahedan to the northeastern city of Mashhad. It will link Iran to Afghanistan and the Caspian Sea littoral countries and give Iran access to Central Asian countries, said the Director-General of International Affairs at RAI, Abbas Nazari.

As the U.S and EU impose tougher sanctions as part of an effort to make Iran answer questions about its nuclear program , India is working to expand its trade dealings.
