The wheat and meat domestic demand in Azerbaijan is met by 80 percent by own production, Agriculture Ministry official Bahram Aliyev told Trend.
He noted that it is planned to collect 8.8 percent more yield in 2012 - 2, 71 million tones compared to 2.49 million tones in 2011.
"Yield per hectare has increased from 25 quintals in 2011 to 27 quintals this year," the deputy minister said.
According to the State Program on reliable provision of food products to the population in Azerbaijan in 2008-2015, Azerbaijan must provide agriculture products until 2015 from domestic sources, and work in this area are very intense, Aliyev said.
He said the amount of subsidies provided by the government of Azerbaijan to farmers for each hectare of land is about $ 200.
