Azerbaijani insurance company satisfied with control over real estate compulsory insurance

Azerbaijan State Insurance commercial company Azersıgorta is satisfied with the control by local authorities over the use of compulsory insurance of real estate in a number of regions of the country, the company's chairman Mammad Mammadov said in an interview published on Thursday on the website of the ruling New Azerbaijani party.

"Under the law, local authorities are entrusted with monitoring the compulsory insurance of houses and flats. In some areas we consider satisfactory arrangements have been made. So, 1245 houses and apartments were insured for seven months in Yevlakh region, 1130 - Goygol, 964 - Gedabek, 919 - Yardimli, 786 - Agstafa, 647 - Gazakh and 800 in the city of Shirvan," Mammadov said.

He said that on the compulsory insurance of real estate the Azersıgorta Company paid out to 93 individuals who suffered damage as a result of the earthquake in Zagatala, Balakan and Gakh with compensation at 149,850 manat.

In general, for seven months, the company has paid to 112 policyholders, 295,700 manat.

Azersıgorta was included in the register of members of the Bureau for Compulsory Insurance, established in accordance with the law on compulsory insurance on January 25, 2012.

The company received permission to engage in all types of insurance except passengers.

On compulsory insurance of immovable property, within seven months of this year the company signed 30,250 contracts, collecting premiums on these contracts at 1.153 million manat.

On insurance of houses and apartments, 29,000 contracts for 1.021 million manat were signed and insurance of non-residential buildings - 1260 contracts for 0.131 million manat.

The official exchange rate is 0.7853 AZN to $1 on Sept. 6.
