The Kazakh Agriculture Ministry increased grain harvest forecast for 2013 to 16.3 million tons net weight, Novosti-Kazakhstan quoted Deputy Agriculture Minister Muslim Umiryaev as saying.

Earlier the Ministry planned to harvest 15 million tons net weight.

"Currently over 67 percent of crops are in good condition, over 30 percent - in satisfactory. As a result of this fact we forecast to harvest 16.3 million tons of grain," Umiryaev said at the government meeting on Friday.

Kazakhstan is among the world's major grain exporters. In 2011 the republic had a record harvest of nearly 27 million tons of grain in net weight. Kazakh farmers yielded only 14.8 tons due to the drought in 2012, which occurred in summer in main grain regions.
