By Daniar Mukhtarov - Trend:

British company SSTL will help Kazakhstan in creating a space system for scientific and technological purposes, KazCosmos (Kazakh National Space Agency) Director, Talgat Musabayev said on June 23.

Musabayev made the remarks during a government hour held in the lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament.

"From this year on, we have launched a project to create a space system for scientific and technological purposes. A contract was signed with the UK's leading space company SSTL," Musabayev said.

He added that under the contract, the designing, manufacturing of component parts, assembly and testing of the space system are being carried out by a joint team of specialists from Kazakh-French joint venture Galam and the SSTL.

"SSTL's consent to create a joint team for developing the space system on a parity basis is a great achievement for Kazakhstan, because it is possible to fully transfer advanced space technologies to Kazakhstan only in the course of joint design works," Musabayev said.

He also added that the project will enable the Kazakh scientists to gain valuable experience.
