Iran’s car output decreases by 16%

Iran’s car output during the 11-month period from March 2015 to February decreased by 15.6 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran's car output during the 11-month period from March 2015 to February decreased by 15.6 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iranian companies manufactured 878,644 cars in March 21, 2015-Feb. 20, 2016, according to a report from Iran's Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry.

Iranian carmakers produced 803,455 sedan cars(8.9 percent fall), 64,975 pick-ups(53.5 percent fall), 9,153 trucks(51.7 percent fall), 466 minibus(100 percent increase) and 605 buses(4.5 percent more) in the 11-month period.

The country's car output during Jan. 21-Feb. 20 stood at 96,011 vehicles, 11.3 percent less year on year.

Iranian carmakers produced 86,508 sedans in the one-month period, as well as 8,622 pick-ups, 820 trucks, 39 buses and 22 minibuses.

Over 1.13 million cars were produced in Iran in the last fiscal year that ended on March 21, 2015.

Sedan cars output stood at 958,335 in the mentioned period, a 53-percent rise year-on-year.

Iran also produced 150,929 pickup trucks, 20,239 trucks, 482 buses, and 179 minibuses in the 12-month period.

Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made the country Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer. Iran also stood at the world's 18th place in the mentioned year.

The Islamic Republic's car output faced a 40-percent decrease in 2012 due to sanctions. The country was Asia's fifth largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.
