Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan. 31
Around four billion manats were invested in the development of Azerbaijan’s regions in 2016, said Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev as he addressed a conference dedicated to results of third year implementation of ‘The State Program on Socio-Economic Development of the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014-2018’ in Baku Jan. 30.
On the basis of 67 orders signed by President Ilham Aliyev and visits to the Azerbaijani regions, 261 million manats were allocated to accelerate the socio-economic development of cities and regions and implement several important projects, he said.
In 2016, 850 kilometers of highways, 27 bridges and overpasses were built and repaired in the country’s regions, according to Mustafayev.
In general, self-sufficiency of more than 60 percent of main food and non-food products amounted to 100 percent or more due to the work carried out in recent years, according to the economy minister.
“In subsequent years, the dependence on imports will decrease and the level of self-sufficiency and the country’s export potential will increase due to the creation of modern enterprises, agricultural parks, large horticultural and greenhouse facilities in industrial parks and zones,” Mustafayev said.
