Azerbaijan increases import of Georgian goods

Azerbaijan increased the import of Georgian goods up to $9.34 million in January 2017, as compared to January 2016, according to a report of the Georgian National Statistics Office.

According to the report, Azerbaijan’s share in the Georgian export was 5.3 percent January 2017 as compared to 3.1 percent in January 2016.

As of January 2017, Azerbaijan ranked fifth among countries importing Georgian products.

As of January 2016, Azerbaijan ranked seventh among countries importing Georgian products ($3.81 million).

Georgia mainly exports pipes, iron alloys, etc. to Azerbaijan.

Georgia exports most of products to Russia - $32.23 million with a special weight of 18.2 percent. Russia is followed by China - almost $17.88 million (10.1 percent) and Turkey - $15.93 million (9 percent).

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia amounted to $73.36 million in January 2017, according to the report.

The specific weight of Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Georgia is 11.3 percent of the total volume of Georgia’s foreign trade operations.
