Kazakhstan increases export of agricultural products to China (Exclusive)

Kazakhstan will increase the export of agricultural products to China by 20 percent in 2018, Head of the department of international integration of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Anna Semanenko told Trend.

“Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and the Main Directorate for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (PRC) signed a protocol on veterinary and phytosanitary requirements for frozen lamb, honey, wheat, wheat bran, soybeans in 2017,” said Semanenko.

The protocol allowed to increase the export of agricultural products of Kazakhstan to China by 30 percent in 11 months of 2017.

"In 2017, we exported 5,600 tons of soybeans to China for the first time. Exports of frozen fish increased by 2 times, oil seeds – by 1.6 times. Export of sunflower, safflower, cottonseed oil increased by 2.4 times and export of soybean oil increased by 14 times of," she added.

Semanenko noted that in 2018 Kazakhstan plans to coordinate veterinary requirements with China for the supply of beef, pork and several types of cereals, leguminous and melon crops.

In 2017, Kazakhstan exported nearly 7 million tons of products worth $5.8 billion to China, which is 36.6 percent more year over year.

Import of goods from China to Kazakhstan increased by 27.9 percent, to $4.7 billion in 2017.
