Volume of non-cash payments with bank cards increases in Kazakhstan

The volume of non-cash payments with bank cards amounted to 2.2 trillion tenges in Kazakhstan in 1H2018, which is twice more than in the same period of last year, Finprom.kz reported.

The share of non-cash payments in total card turnover increased from 16 percent to 26 percent over the year. Some 193 million non-cash payments were made in the reporting period. For comparison, a total of 105 million transactions for payment via cards was recorded last year (for 12 months).

One transaction for the first half of this year averaged at 11,200 tenges. One purchase through a payment card exceeded 12,000 tenges on average during the same period last year.

The number of active payment cards increased by 22 percent to 10.5 million over the year. The number of active credit cards has increased by 60 percent compared to the first half of last year. The total number of the currently used credit cards is 1.5 million.

The share of credit cards in the total number of active payment cards has increased from 10.5 to 13.8 percent from June last year until June this year.

In addition, the volume of cash withdrawals through payment cards has increased by 25 percent. Some 6.2 trillion tenges have been cashed through cards in the first half of the year, which is 1.2 trillion tenges more than in 1H2017.

Total cash turnover by payment cards has increased by 42 percent, to 8.3 trillion tenges in January-June 2018.
