Iran could turn into a hub for the export of household appliances to the regional nations, the managing director of Samsung in Iran said.

Iran is on the path to being the region's home appliances export hub as it has a good capacity to export electrical equipment to its neighboring markets, Alireza Mousavi-Majd said on August 7, IRIB news agency reported.

This could help create jobs and pave the way for foreign currencies enter the country, he added.

“Our manufactures have been busy upgrading their equipment in the past years and time is ripe now to export,” the official said.

Mousavi-Majd said, “We have set our sights on markets in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and some Central Asian nations”.

Recently, however, Mohammad Tahanpour, the head of Iran’s Home Appliances Association, said the fear of raw materials shortage has led producers of home appliances to scale down their output.
