Construction of new metro line in Istanbul almost complete - ministry

Construction of a new metro line in Istanbul between the districts of Mecidiyekoy and Mahmutbey is completed by more than 90 percent., the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Sept. 5.

Construction began in 2014.

"Length of the new line is 18 kilometers and it will have 15 stations," the ministry said.

About 300,000 passengers will be transported daily on the new line, according to the ministry.

It was earlier reported that some 10.8 Turkish liras would be invested in the development of Turkish railway infrastructure in 2018.

Presently, work is underway to implement 50 transport and communication projects in Turkey.
