Non-oil exports review: Azerbaijan doubles cotton fiber exports

In January-September 2018, Azerbaijan exported cotton fiber worth $62.1 million, which is almost 2.4 times more than the figure of the first nine months of 2017, the October issue of Export Survey, prepared by the Center for the Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications said.

Cotton fiber is the fourth by value among the goods exported by Azerbaijan. The first in the list were tomatoes with an export value of $144.7 million (an increase of 12.3 percent), gold is the second with $93 million (an increase of 14.25 percent) and the third is primary polyethylene $67.6 million (an increase of 18.6 percent).

In January-September 2018, Azerbaijan also exported electric energy worth $59.6 million (an increase of 64.6 percent), nuts - $52.4 million (a decrease by 15.5 percent), raw aluminum - by $45.3 million (2.2 times increase), sour and sweet cherries - $38 million (increase by 63.8 percent), potatoes - $29.6 million (growth by 14.7 percent) and other goods - $615 million (an increase of 1.15 percent).

The list of countries to which Azerbaijan exported non-oil products in Jan.-Sept. 2018 was headed by Russia. The country's exports to Russia reached $402.2 million (an increase of 9.95 percent). Russia is followed by Turkey (growth by 23.4 percent), Switzerland (growth by 7.7 percent), Georgia (decrease by 1.4 percent) and Kazakhstan (growth by 61 percent).
