Iran's Zanjan-Qazvin railway project implemented by 70%

Presently, the project of transforming Iran’s Zanjan-Qazvin railway into a double-track railway has been implemented by 70 percent, Ali Khodaei, director general of the Iran Railways in north-western region, said.

The project consists of four parts. The first part relates to Qazvin province, 2, 3 and 4 parts - Zanjan province, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

The length of the railway is 171 kilometers and the project is planned to be implemented shortly, he said.

After the implementation of the project, speed of the trains will increase, Khodaei said.

Zinc, tin, fertilizers, copper and detergent were transported through the railway in the North-West Zone of the country, Khodaei added.

From the beginning of this Iranian year the passenger transportation increased by 4.1 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year, he said.

Iran’s North-West Zone includes Qazvin, Takistan, Abhar, Khurram Dara, Zanjan and Miyaneh routes.
