As of January 1, 2019, out of 323,500 active organizations and enterprises, about 213,000 of them were involved in the service sector, Trend reports via the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics.
Over 153,000 of the total number of organizations and enterprises providing services are small businesses, with a 72.2 percent share (as of January 1, 2019).
As of January 1, 2019, the predominant share in the structure of existing organizations and enterprises in the service sector falls on organizations and enterprises engaged in trading activities, amounting at 33.3 percent.
The development of partnerships between the neighboring countries and beyond, along with the tourism industry, impacts the increase in the number of existing organizations and enterprises offering services for accommodation and meals. Their share makes up 9.3 percent.
The share of existing organizations and enterprises engaged in transportation and storage among the total number of existing organizations and enterprises belonging to the services sector makes up 6.2 percent, with share of those engaged in information activities and providing communication services standing at 3.3 percent, and of those providing health care and social services - at 3.2 percent.
According to preliminary data, the volume of rendered market services in 2018 was equal to 14,684 trillion soums. Compared to the same period last year, the growth rate was 8.4 percent.
Prevailing in the structure of rendered market services were transportation services (at 29.5 percent), trade services (at 26.9 percent), financial services (at 14.4 percent) and communications and information services (at 6.6 percent).
Compared with last year, the volume of rendered market services for 2018 increased by 28.2 trillion soums. Almost a third of the total volume of rendered market services accounts for transportation services.
As such, their share for 2018 made up 29.5 percent. Along with this, the largest share falls on trade services (26.9 percent), financial services (14.4 percent), communication services and information (6.6 percent).
