Canadian company to explore three gold deposits in Uzbekistan

B2Gold Canadian gold mining company will study three promising gold deposits in the Navoi region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ministry stated that Uzbek delegation led by the chairman of the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources (Goskomgeo) Bobir Islamov took part in the International Mining Exhibition in Toronto, organized by the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC).

During the exhibition, an agreement was reached with B2Gold on the geological study of three promising gold ore deposits in the Navoi region.

“An official ceremony of signing the relevant agreement took place on the PDAC fields,” Uzbek ministry noted.

The ministry stressed that the volume of investments of a Canadian company in the first stage will be $2 million. Afterwards, B2Gold is ready to multiply the volume of investments and start production with the successful implementation of the project.

Earlier, Goskomgeo reported that the increase in gold reserves in Uzbekistan in 2020-2024 could reach 474 tons (for category C1 + C2), their value is estimated at $18.75 billion. At the same time, the bulk of the work is planned to be carried out in the Central Kyzyl Kum district in the Navoi region, as well as in the Samarkand and Tashkent regions.

The Committee underlined that, as of January 1, 2018, gold reserves (C1 + C2) in Uzbekistan amounted to 5,990 tons, and metal production in 2017 amounted to 89, 9 tons. Currently, gold production in the country is carried out by the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine and the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine.
