Japanese companies conclude several contracts with Turkmenistan

The Japanese companies signed six documents with the leading Turkmen state concerns in Ashgabat in gas industry, chemical industry, transport, agriculture and water management, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The documents were signed within a joint meeting of economic cooperation committees, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov from the Turkmen side, and Vice President of Itochu Corporation Yoichi Kobayashi from the Japanese side.

More than 80 representatives, including those from the Japanese government and such big companies as Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Sumitomo attended the meeting.

"The sides stressed that mutual visits at the highest level over the past 10 years have become an important link in strengthening the Turkmenistan-Japan relations," the ministry said.

The topic of the projects to be implemented in Turkmenistan through Japan was also discussed at the meeting.

During the meeting the sides stressed that there are positive prerequisites for expanding cooperation in such sectors as transport, gas and chemical industry, electric power industry, agriculture, health care, communications, tourism and ecology.

The sides intend to intensify cooperation in the field of high technologies.
