Nearly $15M allocated for animal husbandry development in Kazakhstan

The government has allocated a total of 5.7 billion tenge ($14.719 million) for development of animal husbandry in Kazakhstan’s Aktobe region, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the region’s akimat (administrative center).

This became known during the seminar with participation of the Governor of the region Ondasyn Urazalin, the deputies of Parliament of Kazakhstan Marat Tagimov, Mukhtar Dzhumagaziyev and the Director of the Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Erkebulan Akhmetov.

Urazalin informed the participants on the measures for development of agricultural complex within the framework of the seminar.

“In accordance to the assignment of the president that the agriculture sector is to become the main driver of the economy, the government is providing great support to agricultural manufacturers,” Urazalin said.

“Thus, some 5.7 billion tenge have been allocated in 2019 for the development of the animal husbandry, four billion tenge of which have already been used. Furthermore, 391 farms have been subsidized. As a result of this, the number of cattle and manufacturing products has been increasing in the region,” he added.

He further noted that during six months of 2019 the manufacturing of meat in wet weight amounted to 69,500 tons, of milk to 163,700 tons, of wool to over 1,919 tons.

“The number of breeding stock has also been increasing by 102-112 percent for all types of animals,” he noted.

“The Sybaga program oversees the work on import of 16,000 heads of breeding cattle and purchase of 30,000 heads of breeding sheep. Furthermore, the measures on export of 4,000 tons of beef, 60 tons of mutton and 485 tons of port are underway. The work on putting irrigated land into operation has also been activated, i.e. some 8,300 ha of land were put into operation this year thus the area of irrigated land has expanded to 30,000 ha,” Urazalin concluded.

During the seminar, the heads of the agricultural ventures and experts exchanged opinions on development of agricultural complex and named proposals that will allow to increase work in all areas.

Nearing the end of the seminar, Urazalin summarized the discussion and gave specific orders to the heads of districts and agricultural ventures.
