Iran to discharge imported goods from Chabahar Port

Iran Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has announced the stored imported goods in Chabahar port will be transferred by two big public companies, said Deputy Minister in trade affairs Hossein Modares Khyabani, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"The government aims to balance distribution of basic goods and develop Chabahar port to improve the circulation of cargo in this strategic port. Chabahar port has the key capacity to provide basic goods to the country and reduce the costs for certain goods," he said.

"It is necessary to assign 20 percent of basic goods for needs of eastern provinces via Chabahar port. The government is going to assign 30 percent discount in commercial interest of imported goods to the port and special economic zones in Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari ports," he added.

A total of 61.8 million tons of goods have been unloaded and loaded in the country's ports during current Iranian year (started March 21,2019) including 8.5 million tons of cargo containers, 17.8 million tons oil cargo and 8.14 million tons of general cargo.
