The main goal of the Kazakhstan’s government is to create diversified economy with developed infrastructure, high innovative activity and competitive economy sectors, which will be able to provide for its qualitative and sustainable growth rates and implementation of strategic goals and objectives, Kazakh Ministry of National Economy told Trend.
As noted by the representative of the ministry, main areas of Kazakh economy development are defined by Kazakhstan–2050 strategy and Strategic Development Plan of Kazakhstan until 2025.
“At the same time, in order to reach these targets, prioritized areas of economy have been identified, development of which will accelerate the switch to innovative economy. The list of such sectors includes areas of processing industry, agricultural complex, construction industry, transport and logistics area, and service economy,” the source said.
In order to reach set goals and objectives, Kazakhstan is implementing structural reforms, including:
- The 100 specific steps to implement the five institutional reforms, which oversees systemic change and institutional improvement;
- Launched in 2016 process of third modernization of Kazakhstan, which aims at structural changes in all areas of economy and creation of conditions for provision of economy competitiveness in line with new world conditions;
- Second five-year plan of country’s state program of industrial innovative development, which concentrates on development of eight export oriented economy sectors;
- National export strategy, which creates conditions for diversification of sale and export markets, as well as increase of non-commodity export by 1.5 times by 2022;
- Nurly Zhol state program for infrastructure development, which is aimed at development of transport and logistics infrastructure and its integration in international transport system, as well as the increase of Kazakhstan’s transport potential;
- Nurly Zher state program which stimulates housing construction;
- State program for development of agricultural complex, which provides for production of competitive agricultural goods via development of Kazakh goods’ export potential;
- Program for productive employment and mass entrepreneurship, which provides for wide involvement of the unemployed in entrepreneurship, as well as access of entrepreneurs to credit and microcredit resources;
- Privatization of private sector development. Main goal of the privatization is to decrease the state share in the economy to the level of Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries (15 percent to GDP) and to give an impulse to further development of country’s private sector; and
- ‘Five social initiatives’, which are aimed at social modernization, including new opportunities in purchasing housing, decrease of tax burden on low paid workers, expansion of availability and quality of higher education, expansion of microlending and gas supply of the country.
“Overall, the implemented work will have a positive impact on country’s economic processes, as well as will provide for high speed of country’s economy,” the official concluded.
