Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a working meeting with the participation of the heads of regional administrations has instructed to complete the cotton harvesting campaign by Dec. 25, Trend reports referring to the local Altyn Asyr TV channel.
The Turkmen president also instructed to fully make settlements with tenants - cotton growers for the delivered raw crop and pointed out the importance of maintaining agricultural machinery in operational condition.
In November, more than 1.06 million tons of cotton were harvested.
This year, it was planned to collect 1.05 million tons of raw material from 550,000 hectares of land.
Cotton was earlier Turkmenistan’s significant export item, while it is currently a highly demanded raw material for the country’s rapidly developing textile industry.
