Iran to announce candidates for national housing plan

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan.25

Trend:

Iran will be announcing the participants of the national housing plan in upcoming days, said deputy minister of road and urban development Mahmoud Mahmoudzadeh, Trend reports via ILNA.

He said the affordable apartments would be assigned to qualified applicants, from the low-income class.

"The review of applicants' data is in final stages and the result will be announced soon," said Mahmoudzadeh.

"A total of 750,000 people have been considered for the national housing plan, their data is being reviewed, the qualified candidates will be notified by a text message," Mahmoudzadeh said.

"The government is not directly involved in the construction of the apartments, the private sector is handling this," he said.

The national housing project or Mehr Housing Project was first introduced by former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his government. The project continued into the Hassan Rouhani government's term, facing obstacles such as rising housing prices, along the way.
