TEHRAN, Iran, April.14

Iran to provide non-refundable advances to people by April 20 and the government would pay the interest to the banks, said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The government will provide aid to businesses and individuals that suffered losses as a result of the coronavirus," Rouhani said.

"A $23 billion package will be used as financial aid, which includes help for the healthcare sector, part of it will go to unemployment insurance fund as a non-refundable aid," he said.

"There is also a $17 billion package that will be provided as advance to people and those who receive subsidies, from this package $12 billion will be offered to ten working groups that were under high pressure financially," he said.

"It has been approved that 10 million rials (about $238) worth of non-refundable loans will be provided to people that receive subsidies in a $5 billion package and the government will pay 12 percent interest to the banks," he added.

"The loans will be provided before the start of holy month of Ramadan," he said.

Rouhani has indicated that 1 million tons worth of basic goods have been released from the customs while 3 million tons more is on ships, and will be released next week, to help the stagnated market.

"The government has planned supplying of goods and purchase of necessary medical items for the year, and people should not be worried over the reserves of basic goods," he said.
