Iran announces volume of purchased wheat

As much as 825,000 tons of wheat were purchased from farmers in Iran during from April 4 to May 6 of current Iranian year (starting March 20, 2020), Trend reports citing the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

According to report, the value of wheat purchased from farmers was 20.7 trillion rials (about $494 million)

“So far, 15.9 trillion rials (about $380 million) have been paid to farmers,” report said.

According to report, the process of purchasing wheat continues in 16 provinces of Iran - West Azerbaijan, Ilam, Bushehr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari , North Khorasan, Khuzestan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars, Kurdistan, Kerman, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Golestan, Lorestan and Hormozgan provinces.

“So far, 546,000 tons of wheat have been purchased in Khuzestan province, 88,000 tons in Bushehr province, 51,900 tons in Kerman province, 51,300 tons in Ilam province," said the report.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set between 25,000 rials (about 59 cents) and 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram of durum wheat in Iran in the current Iranian year.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products, are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
