Uzbek company starts exporting of yellow watermelons to Russia

Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region started exporting yellow watermelons of Chillaki S1 variety, Trend reports with reference to Xalq Sozi news agency.

The first four tons of yellow watermelons were exported to Russia at the price of 55 cents per kilogram.

The cultivation of Chilyaki S1 watermelons has recently started by farmers of Sunny Land Export LLC from Kasan district in the country Kashkadarya region.

Sunny Land Export plans to deliver the next batch to Riga, the capital of Latvia, said the report.

As expected, by the end of this week these unique watermelons will also appear on Uzbek markets. Their average price will vary from 3,500 soum (30 cents) to 4,500 soum (40 cents) per kilogram.

During the first five months of 2020, Uzbekistan exported 719,000 tons of agricultural products worth $415 million.

Recently, Uzbekistan has received phytosanitary permission to export fruit and vegetable products to Myanmar and Ghana.

Uzbekistan also plans to obtain phytosanitary permits for exporting cherries to Thailand and Indonesia, grapes and melons to the USA, pomegranates, apples and plums to Egypt, pomegranates and apples to India, grapes to South Korea, and nectarines, plums and apricots to China.

Earlier in 2020, Korea Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency issued a permit for six Uzbek companies to supply fresh cherries to the market of South Korea: Gold Dried Fruits Export (Tashkent city), JV Uz-Segang (Fergana region), Brand Investment Group Agro LLC (Andijan region), Pure Fruit Trade LLC (Namangan region), Namangan Agro Logistics LLC (Namangan region) and Samarkand Garden Plast LLC (Samarkand region).
