Uzbekistan's capital to establish co-op with Japan's Nagoya city

Administration of Tashkent city, the capital of Uzbekistan, plans to establish economic cooperation with the Nagoya city of Japan, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

The cooperation prospects were discussed during a videoconference between Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and mayor of Nagoya city Takashi Kawamura.

During the talks, a wide range of issues on further expansion of economic relations, development of tourism, exchange of specialists, intensification of air traffic, as well as cooperation in the fight against coronavirus were considered.

"The sides discussed the possibility of opening a representative office of the Tashkent City Hall in Nagoya, which will be an additional tool for developing economic relations, increasing tourist flow between the two cities via direct flights, as well as exchanging experience, technology and highly qualified specialists," the message said.

An agreement has been reached on close interaction with Nagoya city hall in preparing for high-level joint events in cultural and tourism spheres and the organization of a business forum to establish direct ties between Uzbek and Japanese entrepreneurs.

"Currently, the Japanese city has a low level of COVID–19 infection due to developed and sustainable healthcare system and availability of highly qualified medical personnel. The two sides agreed to develop cooperation on training of Uzbek personnel in health care," the message said.

Furthermore, the parties discussed the progress in creating a high-tech IT park in Tashkent and priority measures to accelerate the implementation of this initiative.

The sides welcomed the progress in implementing the project on producing of passenger elevators by Mitsubishi Electric in Uzbekistan.

Following the videoconference, the sides agreed to arrange mutual visits of business delegations as the epidemiological situation stabilizes.
