Kazakhstan sets priority dev't areas in agriculture

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 10

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Development of Kazakhstan’s agriculture in the existing economic conditions will be aimed at deepening the processing of agricultural products, ensuring the country's food security by increasing food production and focusing on import substitution, Kazakhstan’s First Vice Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov said, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry.

Saparov noted that in order to increase labor productivity in agriculture, the emphasis will be put on technical and technological re-equipment of the industry.

“In crop production, this first of all means use of high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and modern technology. The share of pedigree cattle will be increased in animal husbandry,” he said.

The official added that currently, the ministry is faced with the task of developing local production as much as possible, and thereby reducing import dependence through the implementation of investment projects in priority areas.

“The Ministry of Agriculture has outlined the most promising areas for investment in industries that are directly related to import substitution and export development: production and processing of meat, including beef, lamb and pork, as well as milk, production and processing of fruits and vegetables, including greenhouse vegetables; processing of oilseeds and grain crops, as well as the production of organic products, which every year becomes more popular in the country and in the world,” Saparov said.
