Turkmenistan considers opening logistics center of its goods in Russia’s Astrakhan

Consul of Turkmenistan in Russia’s Astrakhan Guych Garayev and Governor of Russia’s Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin discussed the possibility of opening a logistics center for Turkmen goods on the territory of a new economic zone near Olya port on the Caspian Sea of Russia’s Astrakhan during their meeting on August 12, 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The economic zone is planned to open in the near future.

The parties considered issues related to establishment of direct flights between Turkmenistan and Astrakhan and noted that direct flights will help strengthen economic contacts and, stimulate the development of tourism and business relations.

The participants discussed the main aspects of cooperation in many areas and, in particular, expressed their readiness to develop relations in such areas as shipbuilding, education and cooperation in the Caspian Sea.

Turkmen consul handed the Astrakhan's governor a copy of the consular exequatur.

Earlier, representatives of Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region held a meeting to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of trade and expressed interest in the supply of products manufactured in Turkmenistan to Astrakhan.

In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of organizing deliveries of textile goods, yarn and cotton products of Turkmen production to the Astrakhan region was discussed.
